Virtual Book Tour Fun
The launch of Inside the Sun was a bit of a disaster! The day the book was officially published (April 21, 2020), the server hosting my website crashed. Aka I had no operational site, nowhere to direct people…
AND the print version of the book was held up in the warehouse. Distribution of my book to retailers, from the warehouse, was severely delayed. Thank you COVID-19 for another headache. That meant that people could not purchase the print version of the book on my big launch day.
I cried, shook my head, and marched on. What else could I do?
This is the first official blog post since the server crashed and I am still scared my site will fail… so I am handling it with caution and care.
AND, finally, almost two weeks after Inside the Sun was published, it is now available for purchase in paperback. What a relief!!!
I am a little emotionally exhausted after all this. I am still shaking my head, hoping that this rolling launch will build up momentum.
The one reliable part of all this has been the Virtual Book Tour for Inside the Sun. I am SOOOOOOOOO thankful for all the publications, fellow authors, readers, bookstagrammers, reviewers, and beyond who have shared Inside the Sun. They have published in print, online, on Intagram, YouTube, and on their blogs.
THANK YOU!!

Virtual Book Tour Stop : )
Today’s virtual book tour stop for Inside the Sun is Banana Girl films, which is my daughter Hannah’s creative outlet.
When I asked Hannah if she wanted to be a “stop” on the virtual tour, she gave an ecstatic YES! She is super creative. This next school year she’s heading to Victoria School of the Arts. She’ll be focusing on theatre and filmmaking.
As Mama, I’ve very proud of what Hannah created for today.

About book one in The 8th Island Trilogy
When frumpy senior citizen Archie goes in search of his missing son in the Spanish Canary Islands, he stumbles upon a higher mission: locating a magical cure for his ailing fourteen-year-old granddaughter, Ella. Using a portal-jumping device called the Tillastrion, Archie and a stone-headed creature named Zeno are transported to Jarr-Wya, a magnificent yet terrifying island in a connected realm—along with Ella and her strong-willed mother, Tessa, who accidentally stow away on this not-so-secret quest.
What they find on Jarr-Wya is an island tortured by a wicked Star anchored in the sea, and a raging three-way battle for dominion between the stone-wielding Bangols, the fiery Olearons, and the evil Millia sands. Ella’s wit and resourcefulness emerge in this new world, while Tessa is forced to confront her long-buried secrets and a confusing new love triangle. When Ella is captured, Tessa and Archie—with the help of a company of peculiar allies—set out to save her and unravel the terrible mystery of her cure.
A mesmerizing, stay-up-all-night adventure of three unlikely heroes, Above the Star reminds us that even the smallest act of bravery can transform our lives and the fates of the worlds around us.
