The Quiet Rebuild is an ongoing portrait series. It began with the photographic artist, Alexis Marie Chute, releasing a call for volunteers on social media. The call went like this: “Are you rebuilding your life after struggle or hardship?..” The large scale black and white photographs capture the volunteer models at some state of healing after illness, addiction, tragedy or heartbreak. The impetus for the project was Alexis Marie’s own personal tragedy. Now, the conceptual images have been exhibited internationally, published in magazines and journals and are helping break taboos around important yet often hidden topics.
